Happy 18th Birthday Jboy!

Happy birthdays to Ephous (did I spell that right Heath?) and Janell's twins too, but mostly to Jboy, because he's mine.

I wish I had more photos of him but he's usually a dick about getting his picture taken. And he'd stroke if he knew I was putting them online. Yep, I'm one of those mean mommies.

Even this first one though, look at how little he was. Braces and short hair. And a pimp hat! He might make me absolutely batshit crazy but I love that kid.

I mean man, I love that man. Nope, doesn't sound right...he'll always be my baby. How's that Jboy? Embarrassing enough?

Smells like awesome

I can't believe we have to wait until January for this.

Prepping for Prom

For some reason Holly's photos are all tiny. I forgot to bring my camera with when Mandy and I went over there to get her ready for the dance so all but one of these are from Holly's email. I still haven't seen the photos of Mandy in her dress and with her date, can't wait to see those.

Still shopping, only five hours to go!

I haven't used a curling iron since high school

Sticking on fake eyelashes

Trying not to poke her eyes out

Wow, can't believe I ever wanted to be a make up artist. I was so afraid of screwing up her eyes...I guess practice does make perfect.

I was nice enough not to spit on the Q-tip myself

Holly's fancy glitter eye shadow

Teasing the 'do

Smokin'!

It was fun, and at times funny, helping her get ready. How cute that she wanted us to help her and not one of her friends. I love that baby girl.

Learning to love Jim Carrey

Love might be too optimistic. Maybe not gag at the sight of him? My imaginary boyfriend is making a movie with Jim Carrey so I'm going to have to learn to like him. A movie where they play lovers, so I'm even gonna be jealous!

I don't know what it is about him (I know, I know, he's been really great in a few movies) but I look at him and taste vomit. Just like the lame gold lamé wearing boy in high school...Mike Somebody. Yuck!

Not much else going on. My allergies are still kicking my ass...didn't make it out of bed yesterday and didn't make it to work today. I've got tons to do too: Jboy's 18th birthday and his graduation party are the two big ones.

And I just found out that Jboy's too old to get the $300 Economic Stimulus money. Too bad I already spent it on his birthday present. I let Macaroni's dad claim him on his taxes even though he doesn't pay anywhere near 50% so I get no child bonus. So much for a new bathroom window or laundry room. I'm sure I can still squeeze in a vacation though, always money for that.

Won't bore you with any of the Dollhouse news...until we get something really exciting like the 8 minute preview they showed at upfronts last week. I am going to link to this video of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie) wrap party. Joss is famous for not hiding his disappointment in the way the movie turned out, although I'm always impressed with the way he talks about the director. It was her movie after all. And thank the gods that she went another way or Joss never would have made the tv show. The video is kind of long and boring, until the last couple of seconds. Who knew Joss was a back up dancer for New Kids on the Block? The early 90's were kind of no one. So funny, I totally recommend this one. (He comes in at about 6:55.)

Belated Mother's Day photos...

Look how heavy she makes that balloon look!

Happy Birthday ShaLisa!

I tried to find an old photo from high school floating out on the interwebs...no luck. Although every Roosevelt High in the country had scary big hair in the late 80's.

Have fun on your dolly trip!

First Dollhouse promo pic

from here
But what might be the year's most anticipated drama is Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse" (right). Eliza Dushku, who enlivened the final seasons of "Buffy," stars as one of an underground group who have their personalities "wiped" and replaced with new ones in order to better carry out their secret missions.

and
Someone just asked the execs how they decided whether to give "Fringe" or "Dollhouse" the fall launch. Entertainment President Kevin Reilly - I think it was him, anyway - said it was "a high-class problem to have." Whedon had seven scripts written from the get-go, but Abrams finished pilot production sooner. Whdeon welcomed the extra time, the execs said.

and
FOX PRIMETIME SCHEDULE: BEGINNING JANUARY 2009
(All Times ET/PT)
MONDAY
8:00-9:00 PM DOLLHOUSE
9:00-10:00 PM 24
So now I HAVE to buy a new recliner before January. Joss back on tv! Life is good.

Mandy finally found a prom dress

I've looked at so many size 2 dresses in the past few days that I'm just about ready to hang myself with one of them. I think this is the one she bought...although I swear they all started to look alike to me. Her's is black and she is stunning in it. Can't wait to take photos of them on Saturday.

The ocean, without the view

My allergies are so bad that I can't sleep. Constant whooshing in my ear and I can't pop them for anything. My nose hurts from trying. It's 11:32 and unless I have some warm milk and/or try to read one of my textbooks I doubt I'll be asleep anytime soon. Jboy has an AP test tomorrow so I really should wrap this up, although I think he's out of it. Lightning could strike the house and start his bed on fire and he'd probably just sleep through it. What I wouldn't give.

So I'm still awake because of my allergies but I'm still on the computer because of this. I've been downloading these episodes since I got home from work...six hours ago! It'll be worth it though. Two that never aired and hey, anything with Nathan. Plus, as I'll have to point out to Jboy, he plays neither a captain nor a gynecologist. Unless of course that was revealed in one of those two episodes I haven't seen yet. Can you imagine putting your feet in the stirrups and having that smile back at you? Damn. How many paps do you think an HMO would pay for?

I love my Cap'n Gyno.

I'll be under a rock

We've wondered about our glass block window in the bathroom shower ever since the remodeling project was finished. You can see movement in our neighbors yard but not really make anything out, although I know the movement is their dogs. I've peeked in a couple of times while walking around the side of the house and could never really see anything. If the hallway door was open I could see the dark spot, but nothing else. Macaroni put his face right up against the window and said he could see how many fingers I was holding up, but couldn't when he stood against the fence. I kind of thought he just guessed but have pretty much showered with my back to the window anyway.

Well, wonder no more. My sweet neighbor Megan told me yesterday that she could see everything when she took the dogs out at night. Her emphasis on the everything. Which means her husband and dad can too. I suppose it's easier to see in when it's dark out.

So humiliating. We've got a garbage bag taped to the window right now. Guess I know how I'll be spending my stimulus check, huh? Sucks.

The best thing I've read in ages!

In the meantime, Pines, whose day job is as an executive at Josephson Entertainment, has also launched the group Actors Give Back. He's looking to add a Musicians Give Back arm as well. "People want to do something," Pines says. "They just don't know where to start." Pines got the idea for WGB not just because he had free time during the strike, he says, but because of what he saw happening during it. "Joss Whedon had 200 fans show up on the picket line one day to support him," Pines says. "Imagine if Joss went to Habitat for Humanity and 200 fans joined him there. They would have had a Whedon house or a Whedon block built by the end of that day."

I was one of those 200 people! Although I think there were almost twice as many.

So now, instead of just going to Thailand with Habitat for Humanity for my 40th birthday (which I've been planning to do for years now) I want to go to Thailand with JOSS! and Habitat for my 40th birthday. And hey, why not Ewan too? Since it is my birthday and all.

I'd love to build a house with Joss anywhere though. Or serve meals or rock babies or pick up trash on the side of the road. Whatever Joss wants to do, I'd be there.

Holy Crap!

Look how fast Joss fans move.

Nickelodeon Universe

The girls are going home today. KK and I had so much fun yesterday while Shayne rested and tried to kick her cold. We spent about four hours at the Mall, something that would normally make me ill, but with KK it was so great! She did the wide eyed "wow" again and lots of "Look who I found Auntie Sunshine!" as we went from place to place.

KK met Dora and Diego and Spongebob and then on our way out we ran into Sharky! She was super cute and is so ready for Disneyworld. The rest of the photos are up here but these are my favorites.

Team Name Coming Soon!
Jboy, Macaroni, me, Meggan, Mandy, Shayne and KK
The seven of us raised over $800 to help protect reproductive rights! PCR hasn't released their total yet but I don't think they reached their goal this year. Here's hoping they got lots of last minute donations like Meggan, whose sister-in-law sponsored her by text while she was bowling. Thank you TONS to everyone who supported our team this year. Who wants to bowl next year?

Tired now

They're here!

The girls made it in safe last night. Saw them just for a few minutes while they were walking around the block. Shayne has a cold and KK was tired. KK was so cute, came running toward me with her arms out and a big smile, and then STOPPED. Very cute "who the hell are you?" look on her face. Wish I saw more of her. Which is why this post will be fast...need to jump in the shower so I can tag along to the park later.

Not ten minutes later Heather and E stopped by to drop off the jacket I made for E when Wes was born. Those are the emblems of all the teams E played baseball for. We're going to change the name on the front from Wes to little brother Nolan. We also discussed plans to go see the Star Wars exhibit at the Science Museum.

Looks like it'll be more Guitar Hero today, they just can't stop.

Can't wait!

Shayne and KK are flying in this afternoon and I'm so excited to see them. Not you know excited enough to get dressed...poor KK probably wouldn't recognize me without the pj's anyway. We should be cleaning the house but we're all being lazy.

The boys have been busy with Guitar Her0 and playing darts on the Wii. I've been messing with photos on Picasa2, it found photos I thought I had lost years ago.

Not much else going on. Macaroni hurt his left arm on Monday and it's still a little swollen. He says it doesn't hurt at all and his dad thought it was a hematoma (sp?) which apparently just needs time to heal. He's got an enormous bruise though and I want to take him to the doctor.

Any suggestions? Am I overreacting?

Oh yeah, we also cut off the mohawk last night...

Netflix review: Monarch of the Glen

I've only watched half way through the second season but it's so good that I ordered the entire series. For myself for Mother's Day. And I accidentally looked at that link...spoilers! Very cute family dramedy. Alister MacKenzie is delicious!

Happy 10th Birthday Macaroni

Double Digits! I can't believe how fast the past 10 years have blown by.

Super fun party today: laser tag, mini golf, bumper cars and arcade games. And no clean up for me! Awesome.

One of Macaroni's cousins, two friends from school and three friends from Mankato made it to the party, along with my parents, Macaroni's dad, aunt & her boyfriend and his grandpa Jack.

I love reading other blogs about how a child has changed so much from month to month, year to year. Such observant and/or organized parents who remember all those little details. I'm not one of those parents.

I think I'm much more thankful about the ways in which Macaroni hasn't changed. He's still sweet and thoughtful, willing to cuddle with his mom, funny as hell and brave enough to walk around with his mohawk down. And up for that matter. I love this kid.

Another one done

I finally got another jacket up on my etsy.com site. If you know anyone who might be interested in a hand painted jacket, send them my way. I haven't had any bites yet.
